Movement Ecology — Kili Marti, movement specialist and educator

Discover connection.

Connection changes how we move. And how we move can change how we experience life.

Movement Ecology is an individualized approach to movement education. It invites you to deepen your connection with your body, recognize familiar patterns, and explore new possibilities for strength, ease, coordination, and expression.

Through guided movement, sensory exploration, and functional practice, we look at how your body organizes movement, effort, and support.

DiscoverOur approach

Floor work, in class

Meet what is. Imagine what is possible.

This isn’t about finding one perfect way to move, or fixing what feels wrong. It’s about discovering what’s available and creating a greater capacity.

DiscoverWho we work with

Movement is personal. Possibility is not limited by age, experience, or ability.

People arrive with different experiences, understandings, beliefs, histories, questions, interests, needs, and goals.

  • Some are navigating pain or physical limitations. Others are returning to movement after a period of change, preparing for something new, or looking to build strength, coordination, and confidence.
  • Some have spent years training, teaching, or performing, and want to explore their movement with more depth and curiosity.
  • Others simply want a different relationship with their body—one that feels meaningful, adaptable, and sustainable.

You don’t need to fit a category, or know exactly what you’re looking for.

We begin with where you are, what matters to you, and what becomes possible through exploration.

DiscoverOur philosophy

Grit meets grace.

Clear in the offering.
Open in the outcome.

The ecology is the teacher and creator.

Our movement is shaped by our anatomy, experiences, environments, relationships, beliefs, and the demands of everyday life. All of these are part of the ecology. Movement Ecology brings together functional movement, therapeutic pilates, yoga, sport, strength and conditioning, sensory exploration, and somatic education—not as a fixed system, but as resources for inquiry and discovery.

I don’t believe my role is to prescribe one ideal way to move, or to tell anyone who they should become. My role is to create an environment, offer suggestions, different concepts based on my experience, so people can listen, explore, develop awareness and discover what expression, freedom and possibility feels like for themselves.

The ecology continues to teach. I continue to learn. And together, we explore what becomes possible.

DiscoverAbout Movement Ecology

I’m just the guide.

Movement Ecology grew from more than 35 years of working with people through movement, fitness, education, and exploration.

I’m Kili Marti, a movement educator, coach, and lifelong student of the human body and the relationships that shape how we move. My work has taken me from fitness studios and athletic environments to international stages, instructor education, prenatal and postpartum support, and somatic practice. I’ve worked with Nike, Les Mills, and celebrities, studying and coaching athletes, movement, and human performance.

Along the way, I’ve worked with people of every age, ability, and background, and seen how movement can build strength and coordination, ease tension, and create greater connection with ourselves and the world around us. I’ve also learned that no single discipline, technique, or explanation can fully describe a human being.

What I do differently

I read bodies: physically, emotionally, and somatically. I notice what people are carrying and help them release what’s holding them back. I work with deep fascial patterns that conventional training and bodywork often can’t reach, so people tend to leave looking, feeling, and moving differently.

I also trust a quieter kind of perception, an intuitive sense of what lies beneath the surface of how someone moves and holds themselves. I use it in service of helping people become more physically free, more aware, and more fully themselves.

Whether you’re an elite athlete, a business leader, or simply someone who wants to live fully, my work is about helping you access more of who you already are.

A little more about me

Beyond my work, I’m a mother of four, a wife, and a dog lover. Family, meaningful relationships, nature, and a good sense of humor matter a great deal to me.

Grit and grace aren’t just part of my teaching philosophy; they’re part of my personality. I love strength, challenge, and working toward something meaningful. I also value softness, curiosity, humor, and knowing when to make room for something different.

That combination shows up in how I teach and how I meet people. I can challenge you, encourage you, and celebrate your strength, while also making room to slow down, listen, laugh, and explore.

02How we work

Explore movement.

Listening. Hearing. Trying. Responding.

Every body has a history, patterns, preferences, and possibilities. We begin by listening—to your experiences, your goals, and what your movement reveals in the present moment.

Sometimes that means slowing a movement down so you can sense what’s happening. Sometimes it means changing how you initiate, introducing a new point of contact, adjusting the load, or exploring a different direction.

Through repetition, variation, and progressive challenge, useful strategies become more familiar and more accessible. Your goals set the direction. Your experience shapes what comes next.

Work with me

There are many ways to begin, and to continue, a relationship with movement: exploring your own, building a sustainable practice, learning together in a group, or supporting a team or community. Every experience is shaped by the people in it.

Private one-on-one sessions are currently available virtually. In-person group experiences and workshops may be arranged.

  1. i

    Movement & Alignment Exploration

An individualized starting point for understanding how you move and discovering what’s possible.

A session of up to 90 minutes. We begin with your experiences, goals, and questions. Through postural and movement analysis, we look at how your body organizes itself in stillness and motion—anatomical landmarks, alignment, balance, joint relationships, and how effort and support are distributed.

We may compare one side to the other and notice changes in mobility, coordination, or movement initiation. Through guided movement and sensory exploration, we discover different ways of organizing effort and support.

Together, we’ll identify three meaningful areas to explore further, along with manageable practices for everyday life.

This isn’t a test or an assessment of what’s wrong. It’s an opportunity to recognize what’s already working and discover what else might be available.

  2. ii

    Movement Ecology Foundations

Six individualized sessions to deepen awareness, develop movement possibilities, and build a foundation for continued exploration.

Building on an initial exploration, we work with your goals and observations through functional strength, mobility, coordination, breath, and sensory exploration. Repetition, variation, and progressive challenge help us discover how movement is initiated, how force travels, and how strategies change.

Some sessions are subtle and slow; others bring resistance, dynamic movement, or activities from your own life. Each one responds to what we’re noticing together—not a rigid sequence.

What might six sessions look like for you?

    • Preparing Your Body for Birth: Explore breath, pelvic movement, positioning, mobility, and ways to find space, support, and adaptability during pregnancy and in preparation for labor and birth.
    • Returning to Movement After Birth: Begin with breath, core connection, and gentle movement; explore strength and coordination as comfort and capacity develop, respecting your individual recovery.
    • Moving with Confidence During or After Injury Recovery: Explore manageable movement progressions that support your recovery and help integrate patterns into everyday activity.
    • Finding Movement in a Desk-Centered Life: Explore mobility, movement variety, and practical practices that fit into a workday.
    • Deepening Your Movement Practice: Explore initiation, force transfer, coordination, and progressive challenges within familiar movements and activities.
    • Rediscovering Your Relationship with Movement at Any Age: Reconnect with movement or reinvent exercise around who you are today, rather than an ideal from the past.

These are examples, not prescribed programs. Your experience helps shape the process.

  3. iii

    Individualized Movement Progressions

Ongoing movement coaching that evolves with you, your goals, and your life.

Movement isn’t static. Our bodies, interests, and circumstances keep changing, and your practice can change with them. There is no single age, ability, or starting point from which meaningful movement can emerge.

Ongoing one-on-one sessions explore strength and conditioning, mobility, balance, coordination, movement analysis, and sensory awareness, building on your existing abilities through repetition, variation, and progressive challenge. Some days are physically demanding; others are quieter and more exploratory. Both have value.

Sustainability is part of the practice. Rather than asking your body to meet the demands of a fixed program, we explore how movement can stay meaningful and accessible as life changes.

This isn’t about following a program indefinitely. It’s about a relationship with movement that supports what matters to you today, and can evolve with you tomorrow.

  4. iv

    Workshops & Movement Class Series

Shared movement experiences that invite curiosity, connection, learning, and exploration.

Workshops and classes bring people together through guided movement, functional practice, sensory awareness, somatic exploration, and progressive challenge. There’s room for individuality within a shared experience.

    Workshop & class themes

    • Somatic Groundwork | Standing to Ground: Slow down, listen deeply, and reconnect with yourself, your ancestors, and the land through somatic techniques, interdisciplinary movement, neurofascial pathways, and nervous system exploration. A space to rejuvenate, restore, and replenish—without a particular state to achieve.
    • Mobility, Coordination & Possibility: Group classes and workshops exploring usable range of motion, joint mobility, strength, rhythm, variation, and progressive challenge. Some focus on specific body areas; others explore whole-body relationships.
    • Breath, Balance & Awareness: Explore breathing, postural organization, sensory awareness, support, and balance.
    • Movement Through Life Transitions: Movement through pregnancy, postpartum, aging, and changing capacities, including Pelvic Floor: Movement, Coordination & Strength, and its relationships with breath, pelvis, hips, and whole-body movement.
    • The Art of Movement Exploration: Develop curiosity, sensory awareness, choice, and a more personal relationship with movement.

    Move together. Discover for yourself.

  5. v

Team Development, Corporate Wellness & Community Education

Thoughtfully designed movement experiences that support people, teams, and communities.

Every group experience begins with inquiry: understanding who is participating, what matters to them, and how movement might serve their circumstances.

    Experiences for groups and organizations

    • Corporate Wellness & Team Movement: Onsite mobility, workplace health days, lunchtime movement, breath and awareness, and customized group practices. Sessions are primarily movement-based, with planning conversations with managers and guided inquiry for participants.
    • Breath, Awareness & Restorative Practices: Gentle movement and sensory exploration for social workers, caregivers, and other teams navigating demanding work.
    • Veterans & Community-Based Movement: Accessible, choice-centered gentle movement, meditation, breath, and grounding practices, informed by experience working with veterans affected by PTSD. These are educational movement experiences, not clinical treatment.
    • Mindset, Movement & Performance: Movement and awareness sessions for athletes and professional groups exploring focus, coordination, and adaptability.
    • Private Small-Group Movement & Education: Gather friends or family in a home or private space for pelvic floor education, mobility, functional strength, yoga, Pilates, or somatic exploration.
    • Team Connection & Celebrations: Playful or restorative yoga, Pilates, and movement experiences for offsites, pre-wedding gatherings, and bachelorette groups.
    • Movement Educator & Instructor Development: Inquiry-led professional learning through movement, observation, dialogue, cueing, class design, and practical teaching exploration, to help educators develop their own confident, adaptable teaching voice.

Experiences can be short sessions, workshops, class series, or tailored educational programs. Clear in the offering. Open in the outcome.

You don’t need to know exactly what you need before beginning. We can start with a question, a goal, a curiosity, or simply a desire to experience movement differently.

03Where it leads

Experience freedom.

The work begins with your body, but it doesn’t end there.

What we explore together can extend into how you walk, work, play, train, rest, and participate in everyday life.

There is no single way that every body should move. The intention is to develop greater awareness, coordination, and options that support the activities and experiences that matter to you.

ExperienceClient experiences

Different journeys. New possibilities.

Every person brings their own questions and intentions to movement. These are a few reflections from people I’ve worked with.

“Kili has an exceptional ability to read my body and address what’s actually going on. Every session leaves me feeling stronger, more connected, and pain-free, with a deeper understanding of how my body works—and a clear path back to full function no matter what’s been causing me issues.”

Chad

“Postpartum I have had the privilege of working with Kili to do exercises to heal and strengthen my body after childbirth. Kili is awesome – she has been so positive, supportive, and attentive to making a program fit my life. I feel like my posture, pelvic floor, and body awareness are improved so much more by working with her after this pregnancy – I only wish I could have worked with her for my first birth as well!”

Carley

ExperienceBegin

You don’t have to know exactly where you’re going to begin.

You may arrive with a specific goal, a question about your movement, or simply something you’ve been curious to explore. Perhaps you want to build strength, move with more ease, return to an activity you love, or find a different relationship with your body.

You don’t need to have everything figured out before we meet. We can begin with a conversation about where you are and what matters to you, and from there consider what kind of movement experience might support you.
